I've been insulted...

...or at least I think I have. Mom said "Phew...you STINK, Mary-Margaret!", so I got a shower this morning. Well, gosh. I mean, what's a puppy to do? I play, I roll in the grass and in the plants outside my office. I root around in the trash. I play in the piles of dirty laundry. I wouldn't have used the word "stink" in that tone. I might have said something like "Oh, my GOOOOOODness, you are most fragrant today", you know?? I'm very polite!!

Anyway, here's a picture of me after my shower, with conditioner and everything. I even got a blow-dry, and pretty blue barrettes. Mom says I'm a lot silkier now, and maybe I'm not a "woolie" after all. Maybe I just needed a good bath.

Love,

Hi Mary-Margaret,

I'm sorry I haven't been in touch with you lately but things have been a little hectic around here for a couple of days. Daniel is ok, but he was in a car accident on Tuesday. Mum says it was a very bad accident, and I guess it probably was because our jeep might not be coming home again. Mum and Dad aren't mad with Daniel because Dad says it was an accident that could actually have happened to an experienced driver too and it wasn't anything to do with him speeding, or talking on his cell phone or generally being a crazy teenager. In fact he had his seat belt on, thank God and he was the only one in the car. However, the worst part of the whole thing for Daniel, other than the usual shock and stuff, is that the car he hit was a cop car!!! Can you believe that? Of all the cars on the road that afternoon he found the police car to 'kiss'. Luckily no one was seriously hurt, which is a miracle Mum says because the cop's car was definitely totalled and the jeep might be totalled too. Daniel is very sore and he has lots of aches and bruises. He is SO upset too. He keeps saying "I'm sorry" over and over again. He has had his licence for only 2 months so this is really quite terrible for him. Mum was very proud of Daniel though, when the police department commended him for his behavior at the scene. Apparently he immediately rushed out of the jeep to try and go to the police officer's aid. They were very impressed by that and said that he showed great compassion. Mum and Dad are just so relieved that Daniel is ok. Mum says things can always be replaced after all, but unfortunately we can't replace people.

Anyway as you can imagine the last 48 hours have been quite traumatic. It was really hard for me too, because Daniel was in the Emergency Room for a while after the accident and in the end by the time they came home, I had been alone for about 7 hours. Mum was SO worried about me. I was ever so good though, you would be quite proud of me, I know. I hadn't made a mess or anything, I was just lonely really and very, very worried. I had no idea what was going on and was beginning to wonder if I had been abandoned. So you see, I'm still recovering from my own shock too.

I think we all know that it is going to take a little time to get over some of the emotional impact of this but we are all tough!

Luckily life goes on and we are blessed.

Hope you are well.

Love,
Sarabi

Dear Sarabi - I'm so happy that Daniel is ok. My mom understands, because my oldest sister was in a horrible accident when she was younger. She was alone and it was single car, but the car completely flipped over and was thrown from the drivers seat half way out the right rear passenger window, and she looked like a slab of raw hamburger in emergency. And she pretty much got by with just a couple of tiny scars on her arm and shoulder.

Mom says that there must have been an angel on Daniel's shoulder, just like there was on Melissa's. And the good news is, they NEVER forget what can happen. I'm glad the policeman is ok, too. Whew. We can do without that kind of excitement, huh?

I'm absolutely amazed at your determination not to make a mess. I don't think I could ever last that long unless it was at night when I'm sleeping. I'm really very proud of you, Sarabi, and so is my Mom.

She says to tell your Mum and Dad and Daniel that she sends a big hug. Me, personally, am not into hugs so much, but I'm sending a whole bunch of puppy kisses to you all.

I was really wondering what had happened to you, and so relieved to find you are ok.
